About Sandra

My daily yoga practice emerged from insights into pain. I tore my achilles in flamenco dance. After years of running and rowing and not stretching enough my weak spot finally gave way. Add to this an achy chest from asthma and a sensitive heart, I was ripe for yoga. Decades of being pushed and pulled by gravity, I could no longer ignore the sore spots, so I dove into the healing science and spirit of yoga. From the first day of practice, I found relief in this ancient practice that is now a modern phenomenon of well-being. However, the habits of painful posture and neglect took patient focus over time. With encouraging guidance from dedicated teachers and communities from Spain, India, and home to Vancouver, I reveled in the reshaping of fascia, the synergy from balancing and strengthening in shapes I never dreamed I could manage. Mobility and mindfulness melted into a new way of feeling good in my skin. Now opening the gates to freedom through hatha, yin, and vinyasa yoga leads to a fresh way of balancing the possibilities of a healthy life – one that is inspired enough to absorb the unexpected.
